Guiding Principles

  • Build constructive relationships with the diverse stakeholders.
  • Conduct a process that is systemic and involves all stakeholder groups in a fair and open manner.
  • Be inclusive. Involve representatives of all stakeholder groups in the Project Team.
  • Work directly and frequently with the Campus Advisory Groups to seek input on plans and documents prior to taking action.
  • Be transparent in all of operations, including posting of project plans, charge documents and meeting minutes.
  • Focus first on functional requirements before recommending technical options.
  • Ensure that consultant partners are well briefed on University culture and structure. Have University staff accompany consultants during interviews and group sessions.
  • Analyze existing systems and capabilities before recommending technical options.
  • Provide several options and alternatives showing value and cost to be evaluated and decided by the Executive Oversight Committee.
  • Reflect back to stakeholders what was heard in the needs analysis, by providing a document that details the requirements findings, technical assessment, gap analysis and set of alternatives that stakeholders will recognize.
  • Ask stakeholders to confirm that the project has “heard” what their expressed needs are.
