Project Glossary

Advancement is defined for this project as:

  • Collaborative effort to create, build and maintain strategic relationships with key constituencies (alumni, donors, legislators, community leaders, current and prospective students, corporations, foundations, etc.) to advance the mission of the University.
  • Relationship-building disciplines work together toward common goal of generating University support whether in dollars, advocacy, volunteerism, goodwill, positive image, or other support.
  • Constituents
    • Individuals
      • For example: students, parents, alumni, patients, friends, politicians, faculty members, staff, customers, vendors
    • Groups
      • For example: class of ’72, faculty, booster and alumni clubs, community groups
    • Organizations
      • For example: foundations, corporations, government agencies, legislative bodies, other universities
    • Geographical units
      • For example: neighborhood, city, state

The University defines CRM as a Constituency Relationship Management effort to create, build and maintain strategic relationships with key constituencies (alumni, donors, elected officials, community leaders, current and prospective students, corporations, foundations, etc.) to advance the goals, objectives and ultimately the mission of the institution.

  • SharePoint: The Advancement Technology Project (ATP) is utilizing Microsoft SharePoint as a collaborative tool.  It is assumed that the UI advancement community members have varying degrees of exposure to SharePoint,  and this is one of the attempts to make the project team activities as inclusive and as transparent as possible.
